Mdma, Aka Ecstasy
MDMA is an acronym which stands for 3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine, but MDMA is more commonly known as ecstasy. Ecstasy is also commonly referred to as E, X or XTC. MDMA’s primary effect is more than likely a stimulation of the secretion of large amounts of serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain.
This generally induces changes in the brain, including enhanced senses of openness, energy, euphoria, empathy and general well being. Some users also experience an enhancement of tactile sensations which make physical contact much more enjoyable. MDMA has been classified into a new category of drug action, which is called either “empathogen” or “entactogen”.
In addition to the “desirable” effects of MDMA usage, there are also a host of effects that can be detrimental to the health of whoever is abusing the drug. A very large risk factor for MDMA abuse is Hypertension, thanks to the cardiac load increase which is experienced while under the effects of the drug. Use of MDMA which is constant, excessive or heavy can cause significant damage to the nervous system, much in the same way that alcohol abuse would. Although there are many people who use MDMA excessively, studies have shown that the effects of MDMA are far less addictive than with smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol or taking other drugs. The UK Medical Research Council recently stated that MDMA can be considered to be on the absolutely bottom on the scale of harmful drugs and other vices. However, studies have shown that between 10 and a 100 people have died every year with MDMA in their blood, and though MDMA rarely caused the death on its own, it does appear to play a part in many of those deaths. MDMA has a tendency to cause overheating, if people who are taking the drug do not consume enough water. When taking MDMA, especially when combined with alcohol, it is important to drink enough water to keep from dehydrating.
MDMA is significantly less addictive compared to other drugs, but people who take it frequently can still have difficulty kicking the habit. Thankfully, there are a lot of groups and services out there which would like to help you get help for your addiction to MDMA. Narcotics Anonymous is a great place to start, if you have the willpower to attend the meetings and to do what it takes to kick the habit on your own. If you do not believe that you will be able to attend the NA meetings, you may consider checking yourself into rehab, where the provisions of your detoxing will be a great deal more structured. Drug addiction is a very serious matter, even when it comes to a drug that seems safe, or even enjoyable like MDMA. If you feel that you have a problem with MDMA abuse, you should turn your life around now and start working on getting the drugs out of your life.

What effects have energy drinks had on you or a friend?
Ok i am doing a research paper in my english 3 class. My question is What effects do energy drinks have on teens? If you could plz help
They contain large amounts of caffeine, which is a kidney irritant. It gives me kidney pain and has even caused me to have an infection. It has given others kidney pain too.
Does anyone know of a good energy supplement?
No matter how much i sleep, im always sleepy. my boyfriend gets so mad at me because he has the opposite problem. He cant sleep. What can i buy to help me?
Your best bets are to increase your exercise levels, drink a lot of water, and eat lean proteins. This is an awesome formula to have energy all day long!
If you’re looking for a particular product, I HIGHLY recommend an antioxidant energy drink called FRS Plus (the low calorie kind), and it seriously ROCKS. Although it looks a lot like some sort of scary gym beverage, it’s packed with vitamins and antioxidants and gives you tons of energy. Drinking FRS (which incidentally was developed by one of the co-founders of the Balance Bar) when you wake up and also in the middle of the afternoon can make a significant difference in your energy levels–hopefully you will have so much more energy, be way more mentally alert, and feel GREAT! Try the concentrated kind (in low cal orange…YUM!), and add 6 -7 oz. of water, 1 packet of Splenda, and a lot of crushed ice to 2 oz. of it. It makes a refreshing, awesome, 30-calorie drink. BTW, in an effort to make sure everyone in the free world tries FRS, the fine FRS folks are giving away free 7-day supplies of it (if you pay for shipping– which is just a few dollars). (PS, I don’t work for FRS and I’m not related to anyone who does =))
Red Wine And The Aging Process
Recent research suggests that aging as we know it may not be inevitable. We know that some animals do not seem to age such as many cold-water ocean fish, some amphibians and the American lobster continue to grow bigger, are able to reproduce and to live until something kills them. Some people believe that because of the animals that do not seem to age that it could be something in their genes, and possibly in our genes, that controls the pace of aging, and that aging is not the fate of every living thing.
Scientists have discovered that when animals are forced to live on 30 to 40 percent fewer calories than they would normally eat, they become resistant to most age-related diseases that include:
Cancer
Heart disease
Diabetes
Alzheimers
And they also live 30 to 50 percent longer. Judging from the animal studies, calorie restriction slows aging.
How this is, noone knows for sure, nor why aging occurs and what are the underlying genes that preserve vitality and stave off disease.
Few of us humans are capable of restricting our diets by 30 to 40 percent without being constantly hungry. So some scientists began to look for ways to trigger the sirtuin system in action without restricting calories. In 2003, a handful of sirtuin-activating compounds were discovered. Resveratrol – a molecule produced in plants such as red-wine grapes was the most potent.
Resveratrol and other STACs have enhanced the vitality and extended the life span of every species they have been fed to such as:
Yeast
Fruit flies
Worms
Fish
The maximum life span of the fish increased 59 percent, which is equivalent to a human living to 194 years. These results are remarkable; however, it is unclear if resveratrol works in the same manner in warm-blooded furry animals.
In studies with mice it was found that resveratrol:
Reduced the risk of death by 30 percent
The mice treated with resveratrol were leaner and developed a greatly enhanced aerobic capacity
Their muscles were consuming oxygen more efficiently
Had greater capacity to generate energy
The mice could run twice as far without getting tired
At least for mice, resveratrol was found to be an outstanding performance-enhancing drug
Evidence also indicates that resveratrol may protect against aging-related diseases. In studies around the world, resveratrol protected mice against:
Heart disease
Cancer
Diabetes
Alzheimer’s disease
These are the very diseases that reduce most people’s life span. The question of what this all means for humans is still unanswered, yet, could be just as beneficial. Things that are true in mice are often, but not always, true in humans.
Researchers plan many more studies in both animals and in humans in 2007. Some of the first human studies of resveratrol will tell us whether it can help people with either type 2 diabetes or a rare condition called MELAS syndrome that causes brain and muscle destruction in children.
Other good news is that research has started now to find sirtuin activators that have the same effects as resveratrol, but are more potent.
Resveratrol is found in red wine and because of this some people are asking whether they should drink more red wine, or drink red wine to the exclusion of other alcoholic beverages. I personally tried drinking a 6 ounce glass of red wine each night before I went to bed, and felt quite horrible the next day. I do not drink alcohol at all, but was trying this for myself because of all the news I read about the heart health benefits in red wine. I have abandoned the red wine for 10 fluid ounces of 100% grape juice. Most scientific researchers tell us there is not enough resveratrol in red wine to make it a good idea to start drinking it for our health.
Resveratrol tablets and capsules are also available over the counter, but they are of no “proven” value in humans, and they are not manufactured and controlled by the Food and Drug Administration.
Animals that have been given resveratrol treatment are remarkably vital until the end. The studies in animals seem promising. In the future we may be taking resveratrol supplements right along with our daily multivitamins. As of today, however, according to scientific proof, it is still better not to start drinking red wine if you are a non-alcoholic drinker to begin with in the hopes of prolonging your life or having better health. We are probably still safer drinking our 100% grape juice until further studies prove resveratrol in red wine is worth drinking an alcoholic beverage.

What are the effects of energy drinks on my body?
I’m 15, 5′6, and weigh about 122 lbs. I usually have at least one Monster a day sometimes two. I just got a Monster "B F C" today but I’m debating weather I should drink all of it… They make me feel energized but I think they’re effecting my sleeping habits. Sometimes I’m up until 5 AM not feeling the slightest bit tired. Is this because of the energy drinks or is it something else?
it’s b/c of your energy drinks. they’re not good for you health, you know. anything that alters your body’s natural functions is very dangerous in the long run. i suggest that you calm down w/ the drinks unless you REALLY need it.. just do a google of the harmful effects of energy drinks and you’ll realize what torture you’ve been putting your body under. g/l
