Anyone know of a good supplement for energy late in the day or a mind stimulating activity for staying awake?
I have a long, monotonous drive home from work and often find myself fighting to keep my eyes open while driving. Ive tried energy drinks, singing out loud, slapping myself in the face, stickin my head out the window – I still feel sleepy. But, as soon as I get home and out of the car, Im not tired. I think it is more mental than physical, like my brain is telling me to go to sleep. Anyone know of a supplement, activity, etc. that can keep me awake/occupy my mind on a long drive?
If your don’t want to drink coffee or tea than a supplement like Bee Pollen can help. You could also try Royal Jelly which usually also contains ginseng. If you have any risk of diabetes ask your doctor about those first.
You might also try different types of music, even something you would not normally enjoy might be just the thing to stimulate your mind. Something like this would probably be better than taking any substance because you do want to able to sleep when you get home.
You might also consider an audio CD that teaches breathing techniques for staying awake.
Can any energy drink effect the level of cocain in your system in a hair follical test?
I am a recovering addict I first got the hair follical test when I had 67 days clean and it came back positive for cocain still then at 87 days clean I had another and my level went up?? I know I havent used cocain so is there any other substance that would cause your levels to go up? I have to keep getting these test to see my children so any help??
There is a bit of misinformation out there and that is cocaine is out of your system in 2-3 days. Well while that might be true LABS DON’T TEST FOR THE DRUG ITSELF. Yes, that is true, they look for the metabolite. A metabolite is something that the body produces when it ingests something, in the case of cocaine it is "benzoylecgonine" that will stay around long after the drug is gone, up to 30 days for a frequent user. THE DRUG ITSELF can stay in your bloodstream up to 72 hours. It can stay in your urine for about 1 or up to 3 days after single use. Habitual or chronic use can be detected in urine for up to 12 weeks depending on quantity, duration, and frequency of use.
Cocaine can stay in your hair up to about 90 days.
P.S. I’m glad that you believe your children are the best things in your life. I can’t imagine how hard it is to break an addiction. Despite what others may say simply because of that I believe your better than many parents out there today.
Is Alpha-GPC a good stand alone supplement for energy boost?
Is this a good supplement for a better overall mind/body energizer?
I do not think it is for energy but rather for problems of cognition and memory, especially where there is pathology such as Alzheimer’s Disease.
Vitamin B complex is good for energy – try a timed release format [in the morning] and that might suffice without having to take any herbs. But if you need something more then one of the Ginsengs or Rhodiola rosacea [another adaptogen] might help. But you should not take them long-term without a break as they might lose their effect, unless you rotate them perhaps. Or you could try Royal Jelly.
For general memory and concentration: fish oil and the herbs sage, thyme, rosemary, basil and lemon balm might help.
Long Term Effects of Monster Energy Drinks?
I usually drink one to two Monster energy drinks a week (the normal ones, with the green logo), all during the weekend. During the week, I don’t touch the stuff. I’m 17 and approximately 90 kg. What are the long term effects if I continue drinking them? Should I cut back to like one a week or every two weeks, or just quit the stuff altogether? Thanks in advance.
@ Bistro:
Coffee drinker? Energy drinks. And I never claimed to drink them because of the caffeine. I drink them because I like the taste.
Just quit the stuff altogether!
What makes energy drinks bad?
12 spoons of sugar… that’s bad
200 calories… bad
Guarana… tisk tisk
Good for a short jittery burst then a debilitating crash!
